I have bought a new computer

Sorry Frankenputer, it looks like you're about to meet your final end.

I don't think the case of the Frankenputer is good for putting a new motherboard in, the nbew ones are primary designed to fit in tower cases, rather than squatter? cases. Since the local PC chop shop also has a decent gamer computer for under $1000, I'm just going to buy a new computer, try and salvage a few files from the really old one, and start anew.

The current plan is to install Ubuntu Linux on the new machine, and Cedega so I can play World of Warcraft on it.

You were right! It wasn't Diet Caffeine-Free Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper.

It was Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper with Splenda!

Why not get a Mac Mini? They are about $700 with tax now.

And do you recommend your local chop shop?

But then I'd be running a Mac...

Actually I didn't even check the price of the Mac, I'm not sure how the performance would compare and I think I would have more trouble with compatibility between a Max Mini and PC software, but I'm not sure.

This is my first try using Starspark Computers, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Mac OS X "Tiger" is in fact Unix based.

It also comes bundled with a Mac Mini at no added cost.

Here are a few interesting linked testimonials.
